This page is one of the latest additions to CID. We received numerous requests for information regarding brain injuries or stroke. We feel injuries and diseases belong on a separate page from disabilities, although much of the reahabilitation and therapies are the same or similar. This page should be growing considerably throughout 2000, as we discover more resources.

This site is run by Dr. Diane Roberts Stoler, Ed.D., a health psychologist. In 1990, Dr. Stoler sustained several brain injuries resulting from an auto accident and later surgery. She authored "Coping With Mild Traumatic Brain Injury" (see below) and conducts presentations and workshops on quite a few different health topics. The site has an excellent list of links to other brain injury sites.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is a horrendous fatal brain-deteriorating disease for which there is no treatment or cure. Often mis- or undiagnosed, CJD is hidden killer. This site offers information on the disease, a mailing list, and lobbying information to help make legislators more aware.

It can assist by providing steps needed to perform certain tasks, information needed for being independantly mobile, reminders of regular tasks such as taking medication. It can also simply store textual, graphical, and verbal information for later recall.
